The dining room is where we, like many people, end up spending a good bit of family time, so it helps to have some positive color. The original room is very small, but the mural adds a feeling of space. This impressionistic mural was inspred by a trip to Yakima.
Dining and Sitting Room
An early photo of the sitting room mural. The mural is the view of Mount Baker and the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry from the top of Edmonds' hill (south end of Edmonds' bowl).
Originally, this room had a small picture window. The only access to the back garden was through the utility room. Adding French doors helped transform the space by bringing in the garden.
In the Pacific Northwest, mushroom and coffee colors are popular. But for me, such colors in an already rainly and overcast region would only encourage a depressed state of mind. Warmer more positive colors help pick me up on the dark winter days.
